95 m3 had a 3 0 turns lock to lock rack and a 2 8l z3 96 had a 2 7.

The z3 rack is 2 75 turns lock to lock while the e30 and e36 racks they interchange with vary between 3 0 and 3 9 ltl.
If your bmw e30 has an airbag all you will need is the spacers to mount the steering rack.
You need to drill 2 holes 45mm apart and another 2 holes 50mm apart.
This includes the spacers and hardware to shorten the lower steering shaft and also spacers to mount the e36 or e46 steering rack on your e30 subframe.
Since the z3 used so much 3 series componentry under the skin the steering rack is a direct bolt in replacement but it s used as an upgrade because the steering ratio is much quicker for a faster steering response.
You will need one of these kits.
The spacers take up the additional space between the rack and the crossmember that occurs when swapping an e36 rack to an e30 front crossmember.

I gutted the rack cut out as many pas seals as i could and greased it all up like a normal non pas rack.
