Followup from the pelican staff. I installed these. It should be easier if you remove the glass then push the locking clips out to remove the mirror covers. When doing this you are levering the bottom of the mirror cover down while pulling it away from the mirror assembly toward the front of the vehicle.

Then rotate flip the cover upward and remove it. Just be careful in taking the mirror off as it will drop and break or scratch or hit the car if you didn t catch it. Use a plastic prying tool to lever the bottom of the cover off. This works for 2 series and 3 series models.
